Dear Mother,
Have arrived here at last, after having a very nice trip; but rough some parts of the journey. I wrote you a letter from Fremantle, also post cards, also to Gin, and I also wrote you both a long letter each after we left Aden, but somehow it got lost, but never mind I shall send you a longer one this time.
You must excuse the writing, as there are plenty of flies to keep hitting away, they are as tame as Tib, and Peter, the paper is borrowed, but before I have written this page I shall have to go and borrow some more, so dont be surprised if it is written on two, or three, different kinds of paper.
When we left Fremantle it was rough as anything, we pitched, and tossed eversomuch, it was pretty rough, for the A62 ("Wandilla") wanted to turn back, but the skipper on our boat, A63 (Karoola) would not go back, he signalled to her, to keep going, he would not wait, but the storm freshened up, & we slowed up, then the seas were breaking all over us, the other
