These new hands are the biggest "Muckups" and shirkers for work and drill that I have ever seen, they are the lot which played up so much at Liverpool, they will get it drilled out of them soon, they seem to be buckling down (new word) now though. Have sent you my photograph, also one of Reg Healy & myself taken together, the ones taken together are certainly the best, as I am looking downhearted in the one taken alone. Have also sent you a book of views (registered) and a few handkerchiefs; yesterday while in Cairo I sent some more views coloured, which I again registered, they are very good too. Am still in the sergeants mess, and am going to stay there as there is no dull to do while I am in there. I am getting fat on it though; am going close on eleven stone now.
