This Mesopotamia affair is bringing everything out like a transfer, it is exactly the same as the Gallipoli commission; but I daresay in the end we will bungle through somehow or other, well lets hope so. When the first English troops landed in France they were applauded loudly and were great times; the Canadians had a great reception, the New Zealanders, Scothchmen, Australians, then the Yanks. Sammy is boomed up a treat, for he is advertised so much, that all the Froggies wanted to see the squeaker. There will be some trouble under these little low ceilings call Eslamits Estaminets (Mum knows) between these Yanks and our diehards; they felt us at Alexandria when we were kicked off the Peninsula. Lovely weather here, whats yours like? Had a bunch of old letters to-day they had been to Etaples a few times, but were quite fresh inside, theyr'e never stale. Going to see Rupe again this Saturday & am getting transferred to the 13th, have been in 4th Battn 56th Battn 12th Bgde H.Q. 16th Bagd H.Q. 61st Battn. four divisions, shall hang out till the duration, but will roll up for pay days.
No more news except we have left Wareham & in this hole. No bon. More next time.
Love to all
Your loving son
Rex
