On Saturday I rode out to see him on a military bicycle & I can tell you that it was hard going too, for it was uphill and down dale all the way; have learnt to ride a lot more since being on these iron frames; these bikes weigh about fifty pounds, but they are strong. I often go for rides on the Major's motorcycle, but still that can't go fast enough at some places along the road, I have been going over seventy miles per hour; it is a sunbeam and is built fairly heavy, but some goer. Have put in my transfer to Rupes Battalion,16th Brigade and will soon I hope be in the 13th Battalion what a record.
Had a letter from a chap who was working at Morts when I left, he is in France with the pioneer battalion, he is only a young fellow too, though very daring.
