Dear Yvonne,
Just another letter before I go into the trenches, which I hope will find you all O.K. We are going into the firing line very shortly to meet these squareheads, who by the time we have finished will be fairly cut up. There is no doubt we are equipped splendidly as we have two (2) gas helmets and respirators which will stop any kind of gas. Every day we practice a gas attack, so we can put them on at any minutes notice; I am quite safe as I can put mine on in fifteen seconds, which is ample time, for the required time is sixty seconds, so you can see Im O.K. Only one thing that troubles me and that is the march out to the enemy which is nineteen miles away. It rains here every time there is a bombardment, that is pretty often too, as every night there is a tremendous row. We had a snifter trip from Egypt to where we are now; every patch in this country is cultivated from one end to the other. A second Australia no doubt. We passed Paris whilst journeying here, also the country the gerhums had in their possession. They are very close to Paris right enough, but I told some of the people we would get the country back
