I of course came through without a scratch, couldn't even stop a soft one, to go to England on a four funnel one. One of our best Sergeants was killed this morning, he had been at the landing at Anzac and the evacuation, and just gets hit to-day. Am going to write to his people. My batman and I cook the Majors meals which he enjoys, as he always leaves a clean dish, as good a sign as any. If we get leave I suppose he will go with me; I'll take him certainly. He is a station owner somewhere out west in New South Wales. My batman gets very impudent at times but of course I check him.
How is la jardin? Bon! I suppose it looks good tra bon, compre. Do the labres look bon too?
Well I'm blocked as for time or I would tell you heaps more. Please remember me to all. Must close now heaps of love from
Your affectionate brother
Rex
