Mr Daley, or Mr Stratton. Glad Rupe Warner is to be in this battalion, it would be a good thing perhaps if Rod was in it too. Tell Rupert that I had a letter each from Nurse Barbour & Sister Wright, also from Mrs Dennis, & Pavely, they all wrote such a lovely letter telling me to come and see them if ever I have the luck to get to England.  This last mail which arrived on New Years Day, brought me twenty-two letters, and the mail before which arrived on December 2nd brought me twelve, so all told I have to reply to thirty-four, also one to my girl who did not write.  I wont say anything about the evacuation as you have heard by this all about it, another thing we cannot say too much as the censor would not allow it through. We do plenty of drill where we are, that is in the middle of the desert land; our camp is on the site of an old battlefield.  Well Gin as I have to write to all those that wrote to me, I shall come to a close with this one, but will send you a longer one next time, I'll try a send a few odds, & ends home; I have a clip of "Turkish delight" waiting to be sent, also a few other things. Give my love to all at home, and tell Mum to cheer up as the war wont last much longer.

I remain
Your loving brother
Rex.
