There is also an artillery duel on, which makes an awful row, it is just like a lot of doors banging. It is very cold now, every night my feet are like ice-blocks; last night I rigged up a box to put them in; Mrs Anderson & Winsomes socks come in handy now, as I left them especially for the cold weather, wearing the ordinary issue in warm weather. You can see by my writing that it is cold; page one and two are a lot worse than this page, as I started it this morning which was a lot colder than it is now.  I had a snifter surf the other day, when the storm was at its height; too many rolling stones on the beach though. Would like you to send me a writing pad, as we are pretty short of it (paper). Any time you can send me dainties, as they are dear here; Dad said that he was sending a parcel next week, so will look out for it. Always let me know like these things. Am glad to say that I get all your letters now. Received a letter from Dad without any date, which seems to have been written in a hurry; the postmark was Oct 5.

Well Mother as I cannot write at all to-day, I think that I shall close for to-day. Will try & write to Yvonne to-day also. Rec'd a letter from Winsom & Mrs Anderson. Shall close now with lots of love to all from

Your affectionate Son
Rex.
