six o'clock till after five at night, out all day and what's more its fully six miles away.  On Thursday night we had an all night stunt in all the rain, but we won the day for we captured more than half the 63rd Battn & a few of the 69th battn & whats more with not a single shot being fired.
These too [two] battalions have a dead set on us 61st & 62nd & when at close quarters fists & any articles are used; this only happens when we are soldiering against them; they take it for dinkum & they get a good receipt.

Well Mother & Father I have given you all the news there is about so shall soon have to cease; have to write to Yvonne too. You can still send post cards along, write on them if you like it dose'nt matter. Shall close hoping you are back in the very best of health & with love & best wishes.

Struck a good pen hence long letter.

I am
Your loving son
Rex
