Camden 27th Decr. 1823
Sir
I do myself the Honor to acknowledge the receipt of your two letters of the 6th and 22nd Inst. the former reached me at this place a week after its date the latter only this evening.
I have been induced to postpone replying to that of the 6th Inst. being desirous to explain myself on its content to His Excellency in person and I have been prevented from soliciting the Honor of an interview in consequence of the pressing avocations which have engaged me here at this important season.
But as the Sheep shearing is now completed and I trust our wheat harvest will terminate next week I hope to be enabled to wait upon the Governor early in the ensuing one.
I have the Honor to be
Sir
Your most obedt. Servant
Signed John Macarthur
