The following Minutes respecting land in the Cowpastures appear to be copies of information written by John Macarthur to his son John on Jan. 29, 1823, relating to conversations with Sir Thomas Brisbane. Copies of correspondence relative to the grant of land at Cawdor which Macarthur applied for in accordance with Lord Bathurst's promise transmitted by R.H. Wilmot, July 12, 1822, are enclosed. In this document, Macarthur made some unfavourable comments upon Major Goulburn, Dr. Douglass and the new regulations for land tenure and the employment of assigned servants.
