When I called on the 7th, The Governor told me Major Goulburn had not dined with him as he expected but that he would see him on tuesday (the 18th) when he should not fail to remind him of the necessity of completing the arrangements to put my father in immediate possession of the land.

We had a very long interview much to the same effect as that with William.

He endeavoured to explain away his denial to me of the receipt of the Dispatch in the same way as to William. Of course I assented, but he did deny it positively on the 18th January when I waited upon him with the Bill and a copy of your letter to Mr Wilmot Horton - and again two days subsequently at Sydney when he returned me yr letter observing that he had shown it to Major Goulburn and desired him to put a stop to all further proceedings in
