Surveyor General's Office to be returned to the Secretary to be cancelled if not taken up before the 1st of next month (see the Gazette of 2nd Jany). I have spoken to Sir Thomas on the subject and explained to him that so little of your Brothers' land was fir for cultivation that 23 men could not be employed upon it, I told him that I had no objection to employ that number of men for them on Camden subject to the [indecipherable] conditions, but that they could not and they would not sign any bonds - nor secure any Grant containing such a condition, Sir Thomas replied that he knew their land was not fit for cultivation (he has been on it) that he shd never enforce the Bonds upon them - and that the regulation was only extended to pre[vent]
