Thursday:   20th August 1914:

Places of assembly were allotted to each Unit of the Force for parade purposes.   Owing to the choppy nature of the sea many men were temporarily incapacitated, and the rolling of the ship interfered to a certain extent with the work.

At 11-0 a.m. the four 4.7 guns were fired to test mountings, which proved satisfactory.

At 4-30 p.m. the Brigade Major delivered a lecture to all Officers on fire discipline.

The P.M.O. reported that there were no serious cases of sickness, one man having a slight attack of Pneumonia.

At mid-night the ship had sailed 282 nautical miles for the 24 hours, making a total of 412 miles.
