TUESDAY 6TH OCTOBER 1914:

Arranged with Captain Jackson to get "Nusa" ready to search for "Komet".   3  lb Gun from "Nusa" to be placed on Motor Lorry for quick Transport for defence purposes.   The 12 lb Gun left by "Encounter" to be mounted on "Nusa".   This work to be done by Lieut. Whittle, Director of Works.

The Administrator accompanied by Military Secretary and Lieut. Creswell (Wireless) left Rabaul at 8-45 a.m. via Herbertshohe and Kaba Kaul for Bita Paka Wireless Station, to inspect plant there with a view to deciding as to  re-establishing that Station.    On the way inspection was made of garrison at Herbertshohe, and also site of trenches where fighting took place on the Kaba Kaul road on the 11th Septr.

Administrator returned to Rabaul at 5-15 p.m.

A report has been received that a Roman Catholic Mission Station in the vicinity of Vuna Paka, has a large quantity of arms,  ammunition etc. stored there.   Captain Twynam with Native Police, and Lieut. Cooper were despatched by Lt. Col. Watson to enquire into and report on the matter.

The Health of the troops is excellent.
