FRIDAY -11th DECEMBER 1914 :

The Administrator paid a visit to the Botanical Gardens, Rabaul. Dr. Bredemann, Curator, who with other German Officials tendered his resignation after the public flogging of the German Prisoners implicated in the Namatansi flogging case, is for the present carrying on his duties. He, however, as a matter of principle, refuses to accept any payment for his services. It is the intention of the Administrator to make special representation to the Minister for Defence, requesting that a man who is expert in tropical flora be sent from Australia to take charge of these Gardens.

The decisions of Court Maritals on No. 996 Ptr. Burger, A and No. 955 Pte Graham L, were announced: the former was found guilty of leaving his post, and was sentenced to three months imprisonment with hard labor, the latter, who was charged with quitting his guard without orders, and stealing, was found not guilty.

No notice was again taken of our repeated calls to Port Moresby W/T Station.

Health of troops satisfactory.
