WEDNESDAY - 13TH JANUARY 1915:

Fire Station practice was engaged in, all movements being satisfactorily conducted. 

The Brigadier visited the sick. Patients are gradually recovering. 

The following wireless telegraphic messages were despatched:-

Colonel Legge: "Am returning per "Eastern" with 12 Officers and 258 others of my command. Arrive Sydney Saturday, 16th. Will call you next week." Holmes

Colonel Wallack: "Returning per "Eastern" with 12 Officers 258 others of my command. Arrive early Saturday, 16th. Please arrange for band, transport, and two ambulance wagons, also mid-day meal - Holmes."

Captain-in-Charge, Carden Is: Returning per "Eastern" with portion of my command. Arrive early Saturday, 16th. Glad if arrangements could be made disembark Circular Quay. THe Contingent includes Naval detachment of one Midshipman and 28 others - Holmes"

At midnight the ship had sailed 262 nautical miles - 1,170 since leaving Rabaul.
