THURSDAY - 7TH JANUARY 1915:

At 9-0 a.m. Colonel Pethebridge and Colonel Holmes made the necessary arrangements for handing over of the Administration. Colonel Pethebridge interviewed the Heads of the various Administrative Departments and gained an insight into the work of each Department. He has not yet decided which of the Officers willing to remain will be retained.

No word has been received of the "Morinda", and Colonel Holmes, in consultation with Colonel Pethebridge and Captain Carter of the "Eastern", has decided to leave on Saturday afternoon next. Major Heritage will remain for the present in order to assist Colonel Pethebridge, and will return by the larger Troopship, which is due to arrive sometime during the month.

The decisions of Courts Martial on No. 583 Pte. C. Clune, and No.3 Staff Sergt. Dispenser Wray were announced; Clune who was charged with stealing, was acquitted. Wray was found guilty of conduct prejudicial to good order and military discipline, and was reduced to the rank of Corporal.

Patients in hospital are making satisfactory progress. Corporal Thomas whose right hand was amputated as result of explosion on 6th inst., is in a very satisfactory condition; he will be returned to Sydney by the "Eastern".
