Wednesday: 12th August 14:

The work of attesting men arriving at Victoria Barracks was proceeded with all day, the total number sworn in being 723, making a grand total of 1,053 to date.   All the men were allowed to return to their homes and directed to report at 9 o'clock the following morning, 13th August.

Captain Goodsell, Area Officer, was appointed Quarter-master of the Battalion, and at once commenced the duties of the position, and prepared the necessary requisitions for stores supplies and other requirements.

Steps were also taken to appoint the necessary permanent staff of Non-commissioned Officers.   Staff Sgt.-Major Wilkinson was selected as Brigade Sgt.-Major, and Staff Sgt.-Major Inglis as Regimental Sgt.-Major.

Mr, Keith Heritage was appointed Transport Officer.
