SATURDAY - 26TH DEC. 1914:

The "Meklong" returned at 11-0 a.m. with relieved garrison from Kieta. Lieut. Maughan, who has been in charge, reports all quiet in that locality.

During the outward voyage, Lieut. Holmes, representing the Administrator, relieved the Master of the "Meklong" (sub-Lieut. Sparling, R.N.R.), for endangering the lives of those on board on account of his being in a state of drunkenness. Sub-Lieut. Sparling has been brought back to Rabaul and is at present under arrest. He will be brought before the Administrator on Monday morning next, 29th instant. Copy of Lieut. Holmes' report on the expedition is attached.

Fresh cases of Malaria have been admitted to hospital.
