Sir,
With reference to your letters of the 3rd & 5th Ultimo addressed to Mr William Macarthur, with an extract annexed from the Instruction of His Excellency the Governor General, with the advice of the Executive Council, to the Surveyor General, in regard to the measurement of small agricultural farms in parts of the Country held under presumptive lease, for pastoral purposes; and further communicating that certain portions of land, so held by us, near Burrah Burrah Lake, (previously withdrawn from sale upon Mr William Macarthur's representations of various objections thereto) have been recently reported upon by the Surveyor General, as suited for small farms, and that being thus brought within the scope of the general Instructions His Excellency has been pleased to direct that they be offered for sale, - We trust we shall not be thought importunate in now soliciting a reconsideration of the subject, which is of very serious importance to us, and, as we conceive, of Material consequence to the public.
We would beg most respectfully to submit (1st) that the lands, more immediately in question, are situate upon the Dividing Range
The Honble
The Colonial Secretary
