Sir

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of this day's date, forwarded by a special messenger.

As your communication of the 6th untimo varies most materially from the unsolicited offer of His Excellency the Governor to give me a Lease of the whole of the reserved Lands of Cawdor, I beg leave to request information in what direction it is proposed to reserve the thousand acres, which you describe "as a tract around Cawdor" and in what currency the required quit rent is expected to be paid.
