I have omitted in my statement to say, that immediately after I received the message by Mr. Macallister of His Excellencys wish that I would take a Lease of Cawdor and had sent an answer by Dr. Bowman that I would, the following letter from Mr. Sect. Goulburn arrived.

The Governor feels sorry it is out of his power consistently with his Publick duty, to accede to the request contained in your letter of the first instant.
