I read the note, and then walked to Govt House.
Sir Thomas received me in the most friendly manner. I regretted that Monsieur Duperret could not favor us with his Company, and hoped that would not prevent our having the pleasure of seeing His Excellency. He replied certainly not, but as there is no hurry now I would rather wait for finer weather, and visit you when your father is put in possession of the whole Cawdor Estate. I will have much pleasure in riding over it then.
By the By - I hope you have come to tell me you have received the letter from Major Goulburn. I am sorry to say No Sir - Not yet, why this is very extraordinary. Really
