This Morning waited on Sir Thomas Brisbane and to the best of my recollection the following is the substance of the conversation that took place -

I was very kindly received "well Mr Macarthur I am very glad to see you. I congratulate you on the arrival of the order to put your Father in possession of the Cawdor tract of Land. I fear from what I have heard from Major Ovens that your Brother misunderstood me when he stated that I had denied the receipt of Lord Bathurst's dispatches. The fact is, I had received it that day. He did not directly ask me whether it had arrived, and if he had done so, I should have endeavoured to evade his question if possible - if not - I should openly have avowed it. I will state my reason - It is my custom after pursuing a dispatch to transmit it to Major Goulburn, and after he has read it to comment with him upon its contents. I wished that the acknowledgement of the receipt of the Dispatch and the order for the occupation of the Land
