Camden 27th Decr 1823
Sir,
I do myself the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your two Letters of the 6th and 22nd Inst the former reached me at this place a Week after its date, the latter only this Evening.
I have been induced to postpone replying to that of the 6th Inst being desirous to explain myself on its contents to His Excellency in person: and I have been prevented from soliciting the honor of an interview, in consequence of the pressing avocations which have engaged me here at this important season.
