Hill land, but expressing my satisfaction that I was to have the Church and School land, and the land above it, in all 3100 Acres and that if Sir Thomas would allow the remaining 1900 Acres to be measured with it to the Westward I should be satisfied - and I marked it on the Chart in the way I wished (you will see the line I proposed, marked on your chart in dots thus ..............) - This line included the Miserable House on Cawdor. - Sir Thomas examined the Chart, said he saw no objections, whatever, and desired the Chart might be left with him - William went to him two days after, when he was told, that Sir Thomas found there was a positive order against alienating any Publick buildings therefore he could not grant the land in the way I wish.
