Dear Sir William
We are in receipt of your esteemed favour of the 29th Oct.
Your order to Messrs Hubbuck & Co is in hand - and we have arranged for the goods to go forward pr "William Melhuish" to sail the beginning of the year. We venture to suggest for the future, remittances to cover orders - should be sent direct to us - as we would then be in a position to make better arrangements than we could otherwise do - while we should have complete control over the shipment of the goods - a point of some importance in conducting business of this description.
We are glad to find that the Sherry we sent out, is approved of; the Port was a first class brand, but after a long voyage - it takes more time to recover than Sherry.
By the "City of Ningpo" for Sydney - now at Gravesend - we have shipped to your address WMA - 15 Cases Burgundy _A.C _20 Case Burgundy [both] from Messrs Marey Liger Belairs, Nuits, and enclosed we beg to hand our Notes of expenses - say on former parcel £0.19.6. on latter parcel 1.15.0 [total] £2.14.6 to your debit.
We feel greatly indebited to you Sir William for
