[September 17, 1918]

After breakfast we just took the bus along the Strand for a ride & walked back. We feel in at 1 PM for Sir Geo Rieds funeral & took the underground to the supposed nearest Stn & had to walk another 2 or 3 miles to the Cemetary. We did not get back till about 6.30 PM & got 2 days extension of leave.
My mate left by the 8.20 PM for Ireland & I left London by the 10 PM for Newcastle. I am glad to get out of London again.
