Daours & Villers Bretonneux

We had dinner about 11.30 PM [AM] & we left marching nearer the line. Passed General Birdwood. Got to DAOURS about 3.30 PM it is a very good village & nearly all the houses are empty, the people must have left in a hurry, because their houses are just as they left.

Left as advance party for the front line, we left at 6.30 PM & passed Aubigny & Fouilloy & got to Bn H.Qrs in the village of Villers Bretonneux. When we had a blow we went to the front line just to see the communication lines. Everything is fairly quiet. The village has been shelled a lot & there is plenty ruined houses.
