[August 4, 1918]

Wrote to T.K

At 1.30 AM I took my turn on the Phone & Fritz had gone mad he was putting shells over & a sort of bomb which bursted with a very heavy explosion, it shook the ground & they must have been 300 yards away. About 4.30 AM one of our lines got [broke?] & I volunteered to go out & shortly after I got wounded in the arm with a Wiss bang, I felt satisfied because there is no bones broken. I got back to our R.A.P & from there I walked to the field dressing station when I caught the red cross car which took me to the 13th Field Amb in Amiens. Got inoculated & left in the car again passing through Picquigny to the C.C.S at Crouy [Saint-Pierre]. We got there at midday & got dinner & into Pajamas & laid down very tired, my arm is paining a treat which kept me awake a lot.
Everything is O.K here, I hardly think I will get to Blighty with my wound, The metal is still in my arm yet.
