[April 20, 1918]

2 letters from Arch 1 from Jean & B.Collins.
¼ loaf

This is a fairly big village we are in, & it is a jolly shame to see the houses knocked down & destroyed as they are. Fancy when you go into a house which the people have left in a hurry, you see Photos lying about & letter & books which were sacred to the people such as bible's yea whole book cases full destroyed. Such destruction appeals to me very much, why it think it would appeal to anyone. Had a fairly quiet day, only fixed some wire up & put it on reels which we salvaged yesterday.

The old cellar is alright about 20 of us in.
