Letter from Bob
Wrote home

When I awoke this morning I could hardly see or speak, my eyes & throat are very sore. I went down to the R.A.M.C [Royal Army Medical Corps] & got my eyes bathed also something for my throat. We salvaged a little wire & went into town to see what we could find. A few French Soldiers are going through the town they are mostly after wine. It has been a lovely day, and we had a lovely shower of rain this evening. All the country around here is looking well, its a jolly shame these young crops going to waste. Its a quiet night & we are very comfortable in our little dug out, I did not sleep on account of my sore throat.
