anything but a wounded soldier must be watched.

Went to some gardens just near Winchcombe this morning before dinner which was very pretty only the roses are beginning to fade. There is an old Castle like House on the grounds which must date back some hundreds of years. [Sudelely Castle?] In the afternoon I visited an American lady's house & took the two little girls (about 7 & 9 years) into the baths to train them to swim, at first the lady in charge refused to let us go in, she said mixed bathing was not allowed but I asked the man who had more power than her & we got permission. There was two young women in charge of the children, but the people around here are very narrow minded, a civilian can do
