[August 1, 1918]

letter from F.Kilpatrick
Wrote 32nd to A.H

We were still on the lines till early this morning, & as the French had not moved out of the dugout we were going to occupy we laid down in the sunken road. Fritz was over dropping a lot of bombs close by, just a little nearer the front line. Nothing special today, only after tea I went around the Coy line. Roumured we go into the line tomorrow for a hop over. It is a lovely night, & I can hear Fritz over dropping bombs, but I feel quite safe in this dugout. Slept very sound.
He put a lot of shells around here to & some gas shells which makes Your nose, eyes & throat sore. He only put a few over.
