[July 1, 1918]

Wrote to D. Cormack. Pinnock I.F. Wilbur, Bob & 19 to A.H.
Letters from A.H. & I.F.

We had a practice at running our wire out for the attack this morning & afternoon, & I also had 3 swims in the river today. My word it is real hot & I feel a bit sick & lazy with the heat. We fully expect to go over the top on July 4th (American Independence day,) There is a big Coy of US Boys in our Bn & they are very keen for the coming attack, everything points out to a success & the same spirit prevails as there did at Bullecourt, a feeling that it will be a great success. I am going right over with the wire.
