[April 28, 1918]

Letter from Miss McCaskill.

We had a look around the village today, going through a lot of houses & two woollen factories, got plenty socks, & all sorts of woollen goods. The houses are full of valuable furniture, Piano's & everything you can mention. The people have been very wealthy, because their houses are well furnished[?] & in the evening we had some lines to lay & we had to go right along the front line, everything was very very quiet. Its a dreary job any time roaming about the front line after wires. A good sleep in the cellar back at Bn H.Qrs.
