[October 19, 1918]

Letters from A.H.  M.McCaskill, Edmond Aimino, Pinnock, L. Bruce.

We were suppose to be on parade but I was afraid lest I should get picked for piquet so I dodged parade.  I went to see about my weekend leave & got told that it was turned down, which made me feel very wild, they do not give a man any heart to play the game.

After dinner I walked nine miles to Beckington & got boarding with some old people for the weekend.  They are very kind & I am quite at Home.  I walked rode to Frome & went to the pictures & drove back to Beckington.  It is a lovely night but very cold.  The country is just lovely around here.
