[April 19, 1918]

to Sally Au Bois [Sailly-au-Bois] on 20th tomorrow this is my mistake
¼ loaf

We got word to move up into reserves about 10 AM to salvage wire & fix up our communications before the Bn comes at 4 PM. We went to a village near the line for some wire & it was not the healthiest place in the world as he was putting some shells over. We got our wire & line fixed up about 4.30 PM it was snowing a little today & my word it is cold. The weather has been very changeable today, real spring & Winter. We got some straw & made a good warm bed in the cellar, its lovely & warm & fairly safe from shell fire, about 3 feet of covering on top.
