Letter from Aunt Meg, Swanson & Murray

We had a job salvaging wire this morning, went through some houses but everything worth having is gone. We had a very very exciting time this evening, we were laying a reel of wire back from the Coy, & it was very unpleasant with M.G. bullets, but to make things worse Fritz Put some gas shells over & we had to lay the wire in the dark with gas helmets on. Fritz put a lot of shells over here & kept breaking our wire all night, its been a very rough night, in fact we were kept going until day light in the morning. This rough life seems to break me up now. It seems nerve breaking being out in the dark night.
