3.

coms were at a lecture during the morning and the company wh were out on parade with one non-com and they acted the goat, so all leave is stopped for seven days.  I think all of we non-coms will be exempt.  They took the whole company out this afternoon and marched us all over the sandy desert for two solid hours, can you wonder we are fit.  From what we were told at the lecture this morning, I guess there are other reasons than punishment for our extra marching etc of late.  Nell, of late I have felt very much more satisfied with things, I don't wether things have improved or not but I have settled down at last,  There is no doubt about it the stripes on ones arm make a great difference.  Thanks for the cutting in reference to my friend Mason, sorry the sentence was not 2 years.  As you will know by now we did not make any ports after Melbourne.  I think you had better keep the soap until I return.  We could do with some here as it is very scarce in this country.  Am pleased to hear you received the boomerang safely, it was the only thing I could get for you in Melbourne.
Tell Bill I am sorry to hear he has the measles, but that he is very fortunate to have someone to nurse him back to health again
