6.  you to give Mother one of each, as I did not have them in time to enclose them in her letter.  These will probably be the last you will get for awhile.  I suppose you sometimes wonder how the toes are getting on, well so far they have not been too bad, only in the cold weather they shake me up a bit.  Some of the chaps, who have come back from the peninsular, reckon that they would give a small fortune to possess them, to get them home.  I've stood them so far, & guess I will till the end of the job.  Tonight I have to go on guard, a little different to the last time, for then I was sergeant of the guard.
