Am sorry yours did not turn out right, but expect one by the next mail.  I got quite a batch of papers by the same mail eighteen I think it was.  I bet Kitchener does not know what a treasure he is missing in Lady Bob.  I've a good mind to put him wise.  I am looking forward to receiving that record pair of socks & am glad that all to follow, will be your own knitting.  Socks are in great demand just now & thanks to my good supply, & to the suppliers I was able to have dry & warm feet, during our wet spell.  I had to change three times one day.  Those fellows in camp who are playing up, should be over here,  they would soon be quietened.  We would soon find sufficient number of volunteers, over here, to shoot sense, & common descency, into them.  The only thing to regret, would be the loss of lead.  What did Mr McGoun think of the pocket wallet?  I suppose he took you both to afternoon tea.  Did you get the little book I sent you from Egypt, before your birthday?
I think you can put Mr Cowan's mistake down to shortsightedness, & a compliment to Jen,  That photo Mum sent to Cousin Jennie, must have be responsible, for the parcel of short-bread, although it was sent from a
