You might guess how hard, I wish for it, but I only know how much I look forward to the day on which I will repeat the performance, I went through or rather we, went through, on the 14th of Oct 1915. Believe me Nell, that will be Der Tag to me, & not the day on which Peace, is proclaimed. You will notice that I am sending you this letter enclosed in one of the official green envelopes, & this is the reason. Mr Boileau, my officer, or rather Ours, called me into his dug-out the other day, & said to me, "Gordon, you're engaged are you not," & of course I answered "yes," "well, he said, excuse me asking but I am in the same happy state as yourself & have noticed that you always write your letters & enclose them in an open envelope, why not use the green? I feel sure you do not feel like expressing yourself always as you feel, knowing another person reads them before they reach their destination. Of course I am not supposed to do this, but from what I know of you, I am prepared to trust to you, not to say anything in regards to military matter, that you are not supposed to." I thanked him, & took his tip. The reason I have not used them previously is, I always had the idea, that not being censored, they were delayed for a fortnight, but now believe they go the same as the others.
