Dear Nell,
Glad to hear that you received my cable safely. The two words which were evidently cut out were Arrived France, & I sent it in, on the 1st April, so they must have kept it back for just on a month. Well old girl, things are still going right, & the only thing that is not right is that I cannot yet, have all I have missed all these months. It is just nine momths since we said, good bye, on the wharf, & it seems like nine solid years to me. My, won't you have to pay for it when I do get back. I often sit & picture to myself the day, I will be able to walk down the gangway, & hug you tight, as I have so often done, you need not count on escaping because it will be in public. Everything looks very promising now Nell, & I really believe that this year will see things settled up, & to our credit. The Germans are getting towelled up all round & are giving ground. About that cable again, I sent the cable, enclosed
