well.  We are all looking forward to some good times when we return, the sooner the "quicker"  With best wishes from  (How do you like my signature?)  Vivian Membrey
To dear unknown
To night,- being in an excess we state of exuberance I have been beguiled into adding a few remarks in order to verify a few of the statements made in the preceding chapter by my right honourable & illustrious friend- Viv Membrey, in respect to the faithfullness & integrity of our -& incidentally your friend ALAN.  As it happens, I fail either to find appropriate language in the English dictionary, or the Australian soldier's vocabulary, wherein I could sufficiently express my intense feelings on the subject in hand.  O my dear friend- "do be careful' I earnestly beeech thee, & let not one whose tongue seems sweet as honey, but whose bite stingeth like the serpent, ever sully the fair name, lest thou liveth to rue the day thou first made his acquaintance. Viv & I have ample proof of his being a double dyed villian, & so I say again out of the kindness of my heart BEWARE. No doubt this is a strong indictment but nevertheless every word can be vouched for.
P.S. This is a competition between Viv & myself as to who can paint ALAN blackest & you to be judge.  Let us know your decision
