at a loop hole opposite, but he did not give me a single chance.  They are, absolutely, the finest shots in the world, that is the men picked for sniping only.  As a body, we, I believe can lick them easily, but their snipers are of the best.  We had rather a lively time a few nights ago, down on our left.  Our share of it was only expectation, & a good view of fireworks display, of which we were only too thankful.  The Hun got a pretty good straffing according to all accounts.  We have been very lucky as regards the weather.  It has been fine ever since we relieved the others in the trenches.  I saw by the papers, that Harry Gullet has taken a trip back to Aust, & is giving lectures all over the Commonwealth on his experiences with the troops, for the last twelve months, in France.  He is a lucky beggar.  It is possible that I will get a trip to England shortly, as all the Brigade, are having leave of eight, or ten days, granted them.  The old hands are getting it first of course, but when we are relieved, & go back to rest, they will send them off in bigger batches.  I had intended to
