[2]  & we only stopped once, when he bought us hot coffee.  My pack is fairly weighty, as I have a good supply of your socks, & I have managed to keep a change of clothing, (underclothing) in case I get wet.  It has rained ever since Sunday night.  Yesterday I changed my socks three times, in order to keep my feet warm.  We are right up now, & our guns are going off all around us.  You can hear the shells whistle overhead, & the crack, is just like a very, very heavy clap of thunder.  The German guns reply & shells fall everywhere   Just where we are, there is not a single house, which has not had the roof, or walls, shot away.  I have got a real good job at last.  I have been transfered to the 4th Batt's Hd Qrts Grenadiers.  I am in charge of A Coy's team & am senior corp of the Batt. Grenadiers, so should be in it, when promotion is going on.  We will only be required for special work, but we will get plenty of that very shortly.  Just about two
