About the only one that did. Some of them complained of the chaps rats, running over them all night, but I did not notice them.
How are things going on at the new place. I have not had any news from home, for some time, & do not know yet, how Mother is. I just broke off for dinner. I went in and got madam to cook me five eggs & sat down with them and enjoyed myself. They live very free, & easy, but I enjoyed it alright. Well, Nell, I am really stuck for news. They restrict so much, & the same old thing occurs each day. We are merely writing & biding the time, we will have to go into the trenches then I may have some news to tell you all. It seems ages now since I had a letter from you, & that makes it fifty times harder to write. This is a very poor letter, I know, one of the worst I have yet written, but I'll make up for it, in the next. Address my letters to Intermediate Base, France & everything will be O.K. Tell Mum & Jen I'll write them as soon as I can find sufficient news. Give my love to them all & tell them to keep writing & make allowances for me. Will close now, with lots of love, & the usual, from Al.
