news of Lindfield than I heard "Oh for Lindfield again".  The 9th & 10th reinforcements are still here.  We may all go together but I hardly think so, as we have a lot of hard work to do here, & it will be awhile before we are up to the mark.  We were alright in Australia but here the standard is considerably higher.  The work is harder, hours longer & the discipline is very strict.  It is bumping some of our chaps fairly hard but they will soon break them, they say they can tame lions here.  The quicker we realize this the better, & the sooner we will get away to the front & far from this dirty sany hole.  Food here seems to be better than over there.  We get three eggs per man for breakfast with porridge, dinner stew tea bread & syrup.  Allan Fry came up to me the other morning as we were drilling.  He has been here for three weeks.  He said he did
